Facebook Shutting Down March 15

So apparently the rumors of the premature deaths of celebrities has kind of run it’s course. Instead, there is a new death rumor. But not of a person, but rather a website. And in this case the victim is Facebook.
For some reason the viral rumor that Facebook would shut down on March 15th has run rampant. Avid users freaked, others seemed dismayed, but most, they just dismissed the rumors. And rightfully so. So what the deal with the reports that Facebook would be shutting down soon?
There is no clear motive, but there may have been some kind of wacky confusion with Yahoo Video, which will be no longer on March 14th. Or it could be some users acting out showing their dismay that the social networking site took a $500 million investment from Goldman Sachs just last week. But Facebook has a stunning number of users, about 500 million, so the idea that after such a large investment and with so many users, that they would shut their doors? Well, that just silly.
Why do you think the rumors of Facebook’s demise started in the first place?
